The weather is changing in NYC. It feels like last Monday marked the start of Fall, and now all I can think about is what I am going to wear for the next few months. If you’re anything like me, you’re probably wondering what your Fall look will be this year as well. From the runway and the streets of New York City, I have pulled together the top trends of the season to make building your Fall wardrobe a piece of pumpkin spice cake.
Let’s start with my personal favorite and the one I am seeing the most right now, plaid. I would say one in ten women in New York is rocking a Glen Plaid blazer with denim shorts this weekend. From Fendi to Tibi, Plaid was a big idea on the runway for Fall/Winter 2017. You can rock this look as full on ‘lady business’ in a head to toe plaid suit or skirt set, or wear a single plaid piece to make the perfect fall statement.
Sometimes Fall and Winter weather can make you feel drab, which is why a pop of red is the perfect Fall trend. Take a cue from the Fendi Fall 2017 runway and make a statement with a red color pop paired with classic neutrals, or even subtle plaid. I am loving the red Chloe Pixie bag. The circle shape is on trend and the red is the perfect update to the classic bag this Fall.
Everyone is going to be channeling the Snuggle bear this season thanks to the Acne Linne jacket. The perfect statement piece, try it in a neutral like camel or cream.
Medium wash (AKA Dad Wash) denim is now a thing thanks to the Fall ’17 shows of Dries Van Noten, A.P.C., and Dior. We have seen ‘it’ girls wearing vintage Levi’s for a while now, but fashion brands and trendy denim companies are bringing the medium wash to the forefront. I love the Citizens of Humanity Liya high rise denim in Fade Out.
From socks to layering pieces, sheer is a go-to this season. Try a sheer turtleneck under a dress, sheer socks with loafers or a top or dress with sheer paneling. Whatever your preference, sheer is a must-try trend this Fall.
